Around the World
Resident Advisor – Review
Christopher begins this moving journey into the ‘Jet Black’ evening sky. His ascension is smooth, gliding into a tease of synths. They are subtle yet enough to lock you into the upcoming ‘Spectrum’ of Manhattan. These smooth grooves find you in cruise control, but only momentarily. Within minutes the beats darken and take you into ‘Indya’. However, the emotive voices float through the night sky and take you into the enchanting realms of Eastern Europe. Drifting in and out of the clouds, you hear the voices reluctantly fade out, remaining glued to your subconscious. Cruise control ends right now as Replicant brings on ‘The Conspiracy’. The intensity is rising and these melodic notes transport you back to the underground warehouse sounds. You open you eyes remembering that you are well into the evening flight. Looking out into the sky from your window seat you see the ‘Galaxies’ of Capetown.
This is the closest you will ever get to space. Glancing up, you hear chiming bells, thumping rhythm and astral synths, no longer just a tease. You are in amongst a ‘Night Fever’ Mile High. Your temperature rises and your heart pounds as Christopher launches into light speed. The energy is phenomenal! Just as you think you have lost perspective of where you are, the Arabian feel of ‘The Curse’ brings back your bearings quick smart. Strong melody accompanied by consistent drumming sends your blood rushing. Rhythmic rattling brings you over Asia as you accustom your ears to the junkie beats of Hong Kong. You here those voices again, this time by Marc Auerbach, and realise that you are on your way back home. Again they drift in and out of the moon lit clouds with a stutter. As the flight comes to a close, Christopher leaves you all somewhere in the depths of his beloved underground.
Christopher Lawrence delivers a mix that reflects his favourite style of underground progressive trance. Mysterious and energetic, this is his best mix by far.
